C'est la Vie: Mardi Gras: Author's Note

Thank you for reading till the end.

This story was loosely inspired by a bittersweet memory I wanted to preserve. As for the title, I first heard it from a close friend back in school, when I was struggling with all kinds of teenage problems. This phrase stuck in my head, perhaps because it was simply three words in French which aptly expressed life’s trials and tribulations beautifully. Back then, and even now, I hear it whispering, “that’s life, there’s nothing we can really worry about, so just do our best and leave the rest up to Life to decide.”

Inspired by this phrase, I originally wrote a poem back in Year 2011 to express the suffering Life presented to us… to me. You can check the poem out here.

I consider this little short story a bittersweet one, a narrative which lies in the intersection of reality and fantasy. Being preserved in the safe capsule of words, the magic and beauty of this memory will never fade away; And if there were parellel universes out there, do know that I am rooting for the two of them. As for all the other readers, I hope this story inspires you to create and treasure these bits of magic in your lives.

I thank you once again for reading to the end and for your support towards my publications, and I hope you enjoyed C’est la Vie: Mardi Gras thoroughly.
