Warming you

- 7 -

Your pale, white skin
Exposes your veins,
Green and thin,
Embedded in your slender hands.

You are freezing,
Braving the cold shivering.
Your narrow shoulders shudder,
Hoping that someone would come closer.

Inch by inch,
My hesitant hands crawl nearer yet
In fear that you might flinch
Upon contact with me.

I hold your hands,
Gingerly touching and warming them;
Like a fiery orange orb
Hanging on the horizons
Warming the blue sea and red sand.

You submit your heart
To me. Your body shrinks
Even more as your hands link
With mine. You cuddle up like a
Ginger kitten, golden curled, as I
Embrace you in my arms.

As you are wrapped around my
Arms tightly, your heart
Against mine,
I warm you
If that’s the last thing
I do.
